Orta makes self-watering terracotta pots for starting seeds and microgreens. (And coming soon, for house plants!) Everything we make is non-toxic, plastic-free and handmade in Oakland CA I invented Orta Seed Pots because I was tired of killing my seedlings. Orta Kitchen Garden began as a dream to create tools to promote gardening and connect people to nature. In 2011, founder Anne Fletcher made our first seed pot as a solution to the problem of sustaining delicate herb seedlings on her kitchen counter. In her design, water is drawn as needed from the pot's terracotta reservoir. Watch the video below
